FAQs
What is the 3K, Pre-K and Kindergarten admissions process? And how many 3K, Pre-K and K spots are there for the 2022-2023 school year?
Families can apply online for Pre-K and Kindergarten through the New York Department of Education, or at one of their Borough Enrollment offices. Families rank schools on their applications, and the DOE decides who is offered a seat based on a number of criteria. More info can be found online at https://www.schools.nyc.gov/enrollment/enroll-grade-by-grade. PS 705 has 15 3K spots, 36 Pre-K spots (2 classrooms of 18 children each) and 50 K spots (2 classrooms of 25 children each).
How are students admitted into the Dual Language program?
Our Dual Language (Spanish/English) track begins in Pre-K, with one DL class per grade. Our goal is to have half of each class be composed of English-language learners (ELL) who speak Spanish at home, while the other half be native English speakers. Admission into a Dual Language class will be determined by the DOE based on its enrollment priorities. For example, a zoned student who selected Dual Language will get a seat before a non-zoned applicant.
What if my child has an Individualized Education Program?
An Individualized Educational Program (IEP) describes the special education services designed to meet the specific educational needs of a student with a disability.
